AGL Energy is an exciting place to be, especially for those who want to make a difference in shaping Australia's sustainable energy future. As we continue to innovate and push boundaries, we're seeking an experienced Engineering Manager - Unit Plant to join our team.

This role will play a crucial part in managing a team of professional engineers responsible for delivering asset management and day-to-day technical support for the boiler and turbine plant at our Bayswater Power Station. You'll develop long-term asset strategies, set outage scopes, create budgets for maintenance and capital expenditure, and ensure the plant meets engineering, quality, safety, and environmental standards.

About the Role:

  • Develop, manage, and update asset management strategies to meet agreed performance measures in an asset under increasing demands on flexibility and availability.
  • Manage issue identification, diagnostic completion, and improvement activities aligned with group operations defect elimination and reliability standards.
  • Create and approve maintenance and capital outage scoping packages, including reviewing proposals for new plant or modifications to existing plant (considering budgetary aspects).
  • Lead and develop a team of specialist engineers by providing strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and support.
  • E nsure that all plant assets systems meet internal and external standards for process safety integrity and act as a strong safety leader within the business.

About You:

  • A tertiary qualification in Engineering or other relevant discipline, along with relevant industry experience or trade qualification.
  • Strong technical knowledge of heavy industry plant (power generation plant, including turbines and boilers) and demonstrated analytical skills to resolve complex problems.
  • Proven works and people coordination skills through experience in delivering complex packages involving leadership and coaching in high-pressure situations with competing priorities.
  • The ability to hold people accountable for meeting key deadlines and milestones while giving flexibility and promoting well-being.
  • Excellent interpersonal, cooperative, and facilitation skills when interacting with various levels of management and external bodies.

Salary: AU$140,000 - AU$160,000 per annum
