Human Factors Engineering Manager

The Human Factors Engineering Manager plays a crucial role in leading teams responsible for estimating, planning, and executing Human Factors Engineering programs. These programs ensure that products are designed with user-centered approaches to enhance usability and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing comprehensive plans for Human Factors Engineering activities on new bids and ongoing projects;
  • Allocating tasks to team members, monitoring their execution, managing project scope, removing obstacles, and providing guidance and support as needed;
  • Participating in and contributing to regular reporting and status meetings;
  • Guiding and/or conducting human factors analyses, studies, experiments, simulations, tests, and demonstrations, summarizing results into design recommendations and requirements;
  • Reviewing and/or creating and presenting Human Factors project deliverables according to contractual specifications;
  • Collaborating with design teams to achieve Human Factors compliant solutions;
  • Developing team capabilities through training or mentoring;
  • Improving the organization's Human Factors Engineering process;
  • Ensuring quality and timeliness of Human Factors Engineering team deliverables; and
  • Contributing to resource planning and hiring activities.
Requirements

Candidates should possess:

  • A degree in Psychology or Ergonomics;
  • Experience in leading teams;
  • Proven experience in Human Factors engineering within major Defense programs;
  • Knowledge and proven experience with Human Factors in projects;
  • Ability to travel interstate and internationally when required; and
  • Must hold or be eligible to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance.

Desirable qualifications include relevant Human Factors experience in major Defense programs and knowledge of DEF-STAN 250 and MIL-STD-1472G.
