About the Role

The Instructional Specialist is a key member of the school's senior leadership team, responsible for leading school-wide teaching and learning initiatives. This role requires an exemplary classroom practitioner who can model excellent teaching practices, support teachers in delivering a high-quality curriculum, and drive student outcomes.

The successful candidate will have a strong track record of improving student achievement and growth, with experience in leading staff in professional learning and implementing school-wide initiatives. They will be able to analyze data to inform educational decisions and articulate contemporary educational trends in local and international contexts.

This is a promotional role, temporary for 3 years, with a 0.4FTE release time. The successful candidate will be expected to model classroom practitioner excellence, improve learning outcomes, and bring about change in the instruction of teachers K-6.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead school-wide improvement initiatives to lift student achievement and growth
  • Exhibit exemplary, evidence-based practice and lead colleagues to plan, implement, and review the effectiveness of their learning and teaching
  • Lead collaborative practice with colleagues to modify and expand their repertoire of teaching strategies by modeling exemplary classroom practice
  • Conduct thorough analyses of data and trends within the school to identify areas for growth, informing targeted instructional strategies and interventions
  • Plan and lead the development of professional learning that addresses the professional learning needs of colleagues
  • Support the implementation of 'SCS Excellence in Action'
  • Facilitate the sharing of effective practices by actively engaging in and contributing to Network Professional Learning Communities
About You

To be successful in this position, you will need to possess:

  • A university degree in Education or Teaching
  • Accreditation as a Proficient teacher with NESA
  • Demonstrated practice equivalent to Highly Accomplished or Lead level of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers
  • Religious Education qualifications or the willingness to achieve them as per Accreditation Policy to Work, Teach, and Lead
  • A minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in a school
  • Experience in leading staff in professional learning
  • Demonstrated success in improving student outcomes and implementing school-wide initiatives
  • Experience in using data analysis to inform educational initiatives
  • The ability to articulate contemporary educational trends in both local and international contexts
  • Strong written, oral, and presentation skills
