Job Description:

As a Maintenance Planner, you will be responsible for all planning aspects of the Maintenance Department. This includes using computerised maintenance management systems and work planning systems to ensure efficient and effective scheduling of work.

Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, you will provide technical support to the Maintenance and Production Supervisors, developing maintenance plans that meet key performance indicators.

Duties include:

  • Maintaining records of all maintenance work and ensuring an orderly plan of work
  • Receipting and recording work requests, identifying resources and scheduling work according to priority
  • Generating weekly work schedules, including tasks of either preventative or corrective nature
  • Scheduling maintenance priorities using shift and backlog reports
  • Identifying resources to ensure key performance indicators are achieved
  • Assisting the Maintenance Manager in long term maintenance plans for plant and equipment
  • Providing technical support to other personnel to identify problem areas and determine problem causes and solutions
  • Updating and maintaining equipment registers highlighting critical safety equipment
  • Planning shutdowns through Microsoft Project
  • Work planning, scheduling and estimating

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Trade qualifications with at least 5 years post trade experience or Diploma of Mechanical Engineering
  • Heavy industry experience in mining or similar ideal
  • Sound planning and organisational abilities along with rigorous commercial and business thinking to influence decision making
  • Good facilitation skills to facilitate continuous improvement within the department
  • Demonstrate knowledge pertaining to basic Health, Safety and Environmental principles in and around a workplace
  • High degree of computer literacy and SAP experience preferred
