Job Role Overview

The Rehabilitation Coordinator is a pivotal member of the student-athlete support team, responsible for delivering high-level care to injured athletes.

Reporting directly to the Performance Services Manager, this role requires exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Contribution to the injury management process as part of a collaborative team that includes physiotherapists, strength and conditioning staff, sport coaches, performance psychologists, sports dietitians, and athlete wellbeing coordinators.
  • Implementation of return to play outcomes with fellow rehabilitation coordinators and MSA-based health professionals.
  • Designing, maintaining, and delivering rehabilitation programs for student-athletes, taking into account their academic and sporting commitments.
  • Liaising with external and internal coaches, and external medical practitioners, to develop rehabilitation programs for student-athletes.
  • Providing information to parents/carers about the current injury status of student-athletes within the MSA program.
  • Development of educational resources on injury management and common injury presentations.
Requirements
  • Aptitude, experience, and/or qualifications to fulfill the specific requirements of the position.
  • Sound interpersonal and coaching skills related to working with student-athletes from diverse age groups and sports.
  • Highly developed understanding of the principles of rehabilitation for an adolescent athletic population.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and conduct applied programs for rehabilitation, reconditioning, and athletic performance for developmental athletes.
  • Ability to meet competing demands through effective prioritisation in a performance-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a multidisciplinary team to elicit functional improvements and improved injury status within appropriate timeframes.
  • Demonstrated experience with using athlete management software, performance technology, and clinical note-taking.
