Legal Policy Advisor Role

About the Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly skilled Legal Policy Advisor to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in providing strategic and legal advice on complex issues related to consumer protection and competition law.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough research and analysis of complex matters relevant to our organization's responsibilities under relevant legislation.
  • Provide high-quality legal advice and guidance to stakeholders on a wide range of topics, including mergers and acquisitions, competition exemptions, and administrative law.
  • Assist with the conduct of investigations and court proceedings, working closely with external lawyers and other stakeholders.
  • Draft and settle complex court documents, including pleadings and submissions.

Requirements:

  • Admission as a practitioner of the High Court or the Supreme Court of an Australian State or Territory.
  • Experience in working effectively as a lawyer advising and guiding clients under tight timeframes.
  • Experience advising in relation to Part IV of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 would be an advantage but is not essential.
