Regional Community Development Officer

We are seeking a dedicated professional to play a pivotal role in supporting community organisations, with a focus on sporting clubs and local initiatives. This role involves working closely with grassroots sports organisations, leagues, and associations to implement evidence-based programs that promote wellbeing and reduce harm.

This position requires strong leadership skills, including the ability to lead a regional team to deliver prevention programs effectively and in line with state and national priorities.

You will also be responsible for building and maintaining partnerships with local government, community organisations, health services, and sporting bodies.

In addition, you will oversee planning, monitoring, and reporting of program outcomes, as well as support staff recruitment, professional development, and performance management.

You will represent our organisation at events, forums, and community workshops, utilising your excellent communication, presentation, and networking skills.

  • To be successful in this role, you will need a degree qualification in health promotion, community development, social sciences, or a related field.
  • You must have experience leading and delivering community-based health or prevention programs, with a proven track record of achieving program outcomes.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, partnership, and community consultation skills are essential, as is the ability to manage teams, set priorities, and achieve results.
  • You will also need excellent communication, presentation, and networking skills, as well as a willingness to travel within ACT and occasionally interstate.
