Job Role Summary

The Sydney Children's Hospitals Network is seeking a Hospital Assistant Grade 2 to support the nursing team in non-clinical care of patients. The successful candidate will be responsible for patient lifting and transportation, emergency response teams, collection and delivery of specimens, equipment, consumables, restocking of supplies and consumables, cleaning duties as assigned, and other related tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the nursing team in non-clinical patient care
  • Participate in emergency response teams
  • Collect and deliver medical specimens, equipment, consumables, and restock supplies
  • Clean internal and external areas according to daily, weekly, and periodic schedules
  • Display competency in English reading and writing to perform duties safely and effectively
  • Demonstrate previous experience in cleaning and portering in a healthcare facility
  • Understand and apply workplace health and safety principles
  • Work variable rosters 24/7 if required
  • Work independently with minimal supervision
  • Preserve patient confidentiality and dignity
  • Be flexible and adaptable to changing work requirements
  • Previous experience in a similar position in a healthcare facility is desirable

Requirements:

  • English language skills to enable safe and effective task performance
  • Previous experience in cleaning and portering in a healthcare facility
  • Understanding and knowledge of workplace health and safety protocols
  • Ability to work on a variable roster 24/7 if required
  • Ability to work within a team environment with little or no supervision
  • A demonstrated ability to preserve patient confidentiality and dignity
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing work requirements
