Civil Maintenance Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Civil Maintenance Specialist to join our team in Traralgon. As one of the fastest growing municipalities in Victoria, we offer a dynamic, progressive, and inclusive work environment.

About the Role

In this hands-on position, you will perform a wide range of manual tasks and operate heavy machinery in a dynamic outdoor setting, helping maintain the infrastructure that keeps our community moving. You will work outdoors, contribute to vital infrastructure, and be part of a team that makes a real difference in the community.

  • Perform maintenance and construction tasks across road reserves, including drainage, concreting, signage, and street sweeping.
  • Safely operate plant machinery such as skid steers, excavators, tip trucks, and street sweepers.
  • Carry out manual tasks like lifting, raking, and digging.
  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of equipment.
  • Assess work sites for hazards and apply appropriate risk controls.
  • Follow OH&S policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Key Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A Construction Induction Card.
  • Competence in operating heavy mechanical plant and vehicles over 8 tonnes (MR licence or higher).
  • A strong understanding of civil maintenance techniques.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Confidence using digital tools like tablets for scheduling and communication.
  • A commitment to our values: teamwork, respect, accountability, communication, and customer focus.

Please note that you will also need to commit to obtaining an upgrade to a Heavy Rigid Victorian Driver Licence category and a Heavy combination Victorian Driver Licence category within three months of being eligible. We will allow paid work time to achieve this but will not reimburse any costs.
