Job Title: Admin Officer

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Health Information Services team on a part-time basis. Our Health Information Services (HIS) is a busy department providing a range of services to internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that requests for clinical information from third parties are responded to in accordance with the applicable legislation and policies;
  • Responding to enquiries from internal and external stakeholders regarding access to patient medical records;
  • Ensure the confidential processing of patient information to protect patients' privacy;
  • Providing support and advice to staff in respect of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), including legal obligations with regards to release of patient information;
  • Reviewing and complying with Subpoenas and Notices of Non-Party Disclosure;
  • Maintain the administration of all new and developed clinical forms.

This role will see you work alongside a professional release of information team and report to the Health Information Services Manager.

About You:

To succeed in this role, you will be a highly organised and dedicated administrative professional. Crucial to this role will be a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and the time management skills to manage a high volume of medical record requests whilst strictly complying with the requirements of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

You will also demonstrate;

  • An understanding of the Australian Privacy Principles and the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth);
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and an understanding of documentation in a medical record;
  • Sound analytical skills and excellent attention to detail;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Previous experience in the healthcare sector;
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently as required;
  • Initiative and decision-making skills with a commitment to excellent customer service;
  • Ability to utilise efficient problem-solving techniques;
  • Extensive administrative experience, including proficient word processing/computer skills (MS Office Suite)
