Occupational Health Nurse Job Overview

This role is integral to maintaining a safe and healthy working environment for employees and contractors.

  • Immediate medical response to workplace injuries and illnesses.
  • Assessment and management of acute and chronic health conditions.
  • Liaison with external healthcare professionals.
  • Pre-employment and periodic health assessments.
  • Advice on fitness-for-work and workplace health risks.
  • Return-to-work programs coordination.
  • Participation in claim reviews and rehabilitation planning.
  • Leadership in drug and alcohol testing.
  • Management of site medical centre and first aid resources.
  • Support for emergency response and safety initiatives.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Registered Nurse (General) with current registration through AHPRA.
  • Senior First Aid and Advanced Resuscitation certification.
  • Rehabilitation Coordinator accreditation.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in occupational health or nursing desirable.
  • Experience in a manufacturing, mining, or industrial environment desirable.
  • Familiarity with NSW Workers Compensation legislation and processes desirable.
  • Mental Health First Aid certification desirable.
  • Drug and alcohol testing qualifications and experience desirable.
  • Minimum three years' clinical experience preferably in occupational health desirable.
