This leadership position oversees Maintenance and Engineering functions, safeguarding guest safety, comfort, and satisfaction while protecting the owner's investment.
The Chief Engineer is responsible for leading daily Engineering Team operations, executing maintenance tasks and objectives efficiently to maintain property and hotel operations at peak performance.
Responsibilities:- Provide expert advisory services to support strategic goal attainment.
- Plan and execute preventative maintenance programs to ensure exceptional guest experiences.
- Manage and analyze the Maintenance Request System to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Delegate general repairs and maintenance to the engineering team or contractors as required.
- Drive resource management improvements and conservation initiatives.
- Conduct regular tests of fire alarms, emergency lighting, etc., in compliance with local regulations.
- Liaise closely with directors regarding contractor use and expenditure control.
- Ensure effective and hygienic waste removal from hotel areas and monitor for offensive odours.
- Collaborate with front desk and housekeeping teams to expedite quick room turnarounds.
- Proven experience as a Chief Engineer/Facilities Manager or similar role.
- Strong technical knowledge of building systems (Electrical, HVAC, Mechanical etc).
- Knowledge of health & safety practices and regulations.
- Understanding of Australian Standards related to facilities management.
- Experience in body/owners corporation environments.
