Job Summary
We are seeking highly skilled Sterilizing Department Technicians to join our team at the Launceston General Hospital. As a key member of our Operating Room Suite, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of sterilization and infection control.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, handle, decontaminate, package, sterilize, and dispatch Reusable Medical Devices (RMDs) to various departments and external customers.
- Distribute processed RMDs to the Operating Room Suite, internal wards/departments, and external customers.
- Review the Statement of Duties and address selection criteria as required by the vacancy notice.
- Follow infection control principles applicable to the sterilization department processes and procedures as guided by AS5369:2023 Standard.
- Adhere to department policies and procedures and participate in multidisciplinary team activities.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Knowledge of sterilizing technology and/or qualifications in or willingness to undertake a Sterilizing Technology course.
- Ability to obtain thorough knowledge of instruments/equipment processed in the sterilizing department and to initiate appropriate action following decontamination and sterilization protocols.
- Knowledge of infection control principles applicable to sterilization department processes and procedures.

Multiple permanent full-time and part-time, shift-work (set rotational) positions available, with hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
