Salary Package

Above award salary: $80,000 - $100,000 per annum + $5,000 sign on bonus. Salary packaging options are available to increase your take-home pay by reducing your taxable income.

Job Description

The Senior Mental Health Support Specialist plays a crucial role in providing non-clinical, practical support to consumers. They work closely with consumers to identify and assess potential risks to consumer safety, conduct regular risk assessments and address warning signs of suicidal ideation or behaviour.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Identifying and assessing potential risks to consumer safety
  • Conducting regular risk assessments
  • Addressing warning signs of suicidal ideation or behaviour

In addition, they will work closely with consumers, adopting a strengths-based approach to help them develop tailored support plans, connect with community services, and monitor their progress.

The role also involves assisting consumers in navigating a network of regional services, helping them access community resources, mental health services, and social supports essential for their recovery.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Relevant qualifications (minimum Cert IV or other relevant qualification in mental health or human services)
  • Experience in understanding personal, family, and social factors related to suicidal ideation and attempts
  • Demonstrated case management skills and ability to work effectively with consumers, family members and service providers
