This role focuses on optimizing operational performance through industrial best practices. The goal is to enhance machinery reliability while ensuring a safe working environment.

The Victorian plant in Melbourne requires an experienced Production Maintenance Manager to oversee planned and unplanned maintenance of equipment, driving continuous improvement. This involves identifying barriers limiting optimal operational equipment performance. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, and coordinating teams and external contractors to meet production and quality key performance indicators (KPIs). They will also be responsible for capital upgrades and renewals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all safety processes and policies are adhered to by subcontractors and contractors during activities.
  • Maintain manufacturing facilities to ensure continual availability for production requirements.
  • Guarantee suitable spares are available and stores are maintained.
  • Minimize disruption to production by promptly rectifying stoppages/breakdowns through effective resource allocation.
  • Manage a computer-based preventative and productive maintenance system.
  • Oversee mechanical and electrical work to ensure regular maintenance programs are carried out according to plan and standards.
  • Prepare and action daily, weekly, and forward-planned shutdowns.
  • Comply with all applicable procedures and work instructions when operating equipment and assembling products.
  • Plan and coordinate daily production tasks.
  • Ensure production staff are aware of any processes that need attention.
  • Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions aligned with processes and functions, covering safety and quality aspects.
  • Promote the use of lean principles and functions as an effective change agent throughout the organization.
  • Conduct daily communication meetings focusing on safety, quality, and availability.

Selection Criteria:

  • Demonstrated experience in manufacturing maintenance.
  • Engineering degree or trade certificate.
  • Comprehensive understanding of quality and occupational health and safety (OH&S).
  • Microsoft Office competency.
  • A sense of urgency and willingness to work under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and strengths in working in team and autonomous situations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
