Lead Electrical Engineer Position
About Our TeamWe are seeking a highly experienced electrical engineer to lead the strategic planning and development of our transmission network.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive plans for subtransmission network upgrades.
- Conduct detailed analysis of network constraints and identify opportunities for augmentation or support.
- Deliver power system studies using advanced simulation tools and provide technical guidance.
- Promote long-term network development and economic assessments.
- Spearhead regulatory submissions and ensure compliance with National Electricity Rules.
- Manage bushfire safety compliance through REFCL planning and implementation.
- Model network performance and produce strategic reports.
- Forecast demand, fault levels, and distribution loss factors.
- Provide technical direction for connections, outages, contingencies, and emergencies.
- Liaise with industry stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
- Evaluate embedded generation and major load connection proposals.
- Promote non-network solutions to reduce demand and defer investment.
- Simplify complex engineering analysis for operational teams.
- Pursue continuous improvement in planning processes and systems.
The Ideal Candidate
- Degree-qualified electrical engineer with extensive experience in network planning and asset management.
- Proficient in PSS/E, PowerFactory, PSCAD; Python programming highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of National Electricity Rules, regulatory frameworks, and energy markets.
- Experienced in economic assessments, bushfire compliance, and stakeholder engagement.
- Able to lead complex projects, simplify technical concepts, and drive strategic outcomes.
