About the Role

The Policy and Project Officer, reporting to the Senior Director Project Manager, will be responsible for developing and implementing policies and procedures that support the safety and wellbeing of students and staff in ACT public schools.

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables
  • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to create frameworks, policies, and procedures that promote safety and wellbeing in line with legislation.
  • Review and update existing policies, ensuring they are aligned with broader safety and wellbeing standards.
  • Develop initiatives and programs that facilitate effective policy implementation.
  • Prepare briefs and reports as required, ensuring high-quality documentation.
  • Liaise with stakeholders across various levels, fostering proactive and cooperative relationships to advance projects and policy objectives.
  • Contribute to the Project Management Office as part of a small, dynamic team, working both independently and collaboratively.
Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this role is AU$80,000 - AU$100,000 per annum, depending on experience. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a range of benefits, including opportunities for professional development and a supportive work environment.

Essential Skills and Qualifications
  • Proven experience in developing government policies or programs.
  • Ability to draft evidence-based policies, interpret legislation, and apply it effectively in a policy context.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage with stakeholders, provide feedback, and produce high-quality written briefs and reports.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in ICT, with an ability to leverage technology to achieve outcomes.
  • Sound judgment and the ability to review policies, improve compliance, and prioritize tasks under pressure.
