Job Title: Psychiatrist

Description:

The position of Psychiatrist is available in a Developmental Disability Mental Health Team (DDMHT) at Island Health. The successful candidate will work with DDMHT, providing assessment and consultation to patients from 14 years and up with a range of intellectual disability (ID), including autism, FASD, Down Syndrome and mental health and substance use needs.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Eligibility for full licensure to practice psychiatry in British Columbia.
  • Experience and training in comprehensive psychiatry services.
  • Skills in a collaborative care model.

Benefits:

The team offers a specialized community-based consultation service, working with family physicians and the community care teams and families that support youth (14 years and older) and adults with ID. Consultative Service may include telehealth outreach to other parts of Vancouver Island.

Others:

The ideal candidate will have capacity and interest to build relationships with other services/staff. Administrative duties will include attending clinical team meetings and providing reports to the Department of Psychiatry meetings.
