Research Associate Job Opportunity at the University of New South Wales

About the Role

The School of Mathematics and Statistics is seeking a highly skilled Research Associate to contribute to its research efforts. The successful candidate will be part of a team of over eighty continuing academic staff and more than thirty research staff, as well as visiting academics.

Key Responsibilities
  • To conduct research in the areas of applied and pure mathematics, and statistics.
  • To develop and implement defined projects relevant to Australian Research Council Discovery Project DP250100297: A new twist on product decompositions: twisted algebras for Zappa–Szép products.
  • To contribute to the teaching effort of the School of Mathematics and Statistics through limited teaching in research-related undergraduate subjects.
Required Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mathematics or statistics, with expertise in research methods and project management. They will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Benefits
  • A competitive salary package of AUD110K - AUD117K per annum, plus 17% Superannuation and annual leave loading.
  • A fixed-term contract of 2.5 years, with possible 6-month extension based on performance and funding.
  • A full-time position (35 hours per week).
