In this role, you will be responsible for providing advocacy, referrals, and liaison during hospital care and discharge. You will also develop links with local Indigenous communities and organisations, and assist in developing hospital programs to meet Aboriginal-specific health standards.
Our ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the needs of Aboriginal patients and be able to effectively communicate with them and their families. They will also require excellent interpersonal skills and be able to develop and maintain relationships with clients from diverse backgrounds.
We are committed to employing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in roles where they can utilize their skills and knowledge to improve health outcomes for their communities. As such, this position is identified as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Identified role. About the Role
This is a permanent full-time position working 38 hours per week. The salary range for this position is $62,512 - $90,357 per annum. The successful candidate will be required to hold a minimum Certificate III qualification in Aboriginal Primary Health Care or a minimum Certificate III health qualification in the area of care in which the Aboriginal Health Worker works.
Key Selection Criteria
- Ability to assess the needs of Aboriginal patients and to advocate on their behalf in the health system
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a range of health professionals across the area in working with Aboriginal patients, their families, and communities
- Knowledge of a range of community-based support services and programs to assist Aboriginal patients and their families in addressing their health care needs
