Position Summary
The Electric Motor Winder will be responsible for diagnosing issues, documenting findings, rewinding, and restoring electric motors, pumps, gearboxes, and generators, adhering to the company's established standards to meet client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Rewind AC and DC electric motors and armatures, including collecting winding data, fabricating coils, performing rewinding, varnishing, baking, and conducting final tests.
- Dismantle, evaluate, and reassemble various pumps, generators, electric motors, and gearboxes as directed by the Workshop Foreman.
- Identify and document any damage on pumps, electric motors, generators, or gearboxes.
- Conduct all necessary electrical tests safely and sign off on job cards.
- Capture images during disassembly and assembly in compliance with company standards, storing them in the appropriate job folders.
- Complete all job-related paperwork accurately and legibly.
- Inform the Workshop Foreman promptly if time constraints cannot be met.
- Be available for overtime as needed.
- Strive for maximum efficiency and minimal errors in all tasks.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the workshop, ensuring tools are returned to their designated places.
- Keep walkways clear at all times.
- Engage in ongoing training as required.
- Comply with the company's Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) and Quality systems.
- Assist in the calibration and maintenance of plant and equipment as necessary.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Workshop Foreman/Supervisors.
Qualifications and Skills
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role.
- Strong understanding of workshop protocols.
- Excellent communication abilities.
- Effective problem-solving skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of trade requirements and competencies.
- Relevant tradesman's certificate or equivalent work experience.
- Forklift license (or willingness to obtain one).
- Thorough understanding of winding, fitting, machining, and all workshop processes.
- Experience in rewinding AC and DC machines.
- A high level of empathy and consideration for colleagues.
