About the Role

We are thrilled to offer an opportunity to join Metcash as an Assistant Accountant. This role is based at Macquarie Park and will involve supporting the accounting and reporting functions of the Food - Commercial division. The primary focus will be on month-end activities, including closing processes, reconciliations, compliance, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Timely preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports for the Food - Commercial division.
  2. Accurate creation of monthly journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations according to Metcash reporting schedules.
  3. Support one of the Food - Commercial Managers during external audits, including half-year reviews and full-year audits.
  4. Enhance existing processes by streamlining reporting in alignment with departmental requirements.
  5. Engage in ad-hoc project work as necessary.
Ideal Candidate Profile
  1. A minimum of 2 years of professional experience (not necessarily in finance).
  2. A degree in accounting or a related field.
  3. CPA / CA qualified or pursuing either postgraduate qualification.
  4. Experience with SAP, TM1, Power Enterprise, Power Query, and PowerPivot is advantageous.
  5. A positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
