Job Title: Senior Forensic Chemist

  • Skill in chemical analysis, scientific leadership and expert advice are essential to success in this role.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team is critical.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide timely and efficient chemical analyses on various specimens including biological samples under supervision, in accordance with established practices.
  2. Attend courts of law in Queensland and elsewhere to provide expert testimony.
  3. Participate in field work at crime scenes or scenes of chemical incidents.
  4. Assess and process clandestine laboratory sites and conduct scientific testing and analysis of forensic items.
  5. Actively participate in processes of continuous quality improvement and undertake research and development projects.
  6. Advise and assist senior management on quality service improvements.
  7. Ensure compliance with NATA/ISO accreditation/certification requirements.
  8. Be willing to work on an on-call roster to support operational requirements.

The successful person will demonstrate high-level knowledge, skills and ability to provide scientific leadership without supervision.
