Job Role Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Disability Support Worker to join our team at V-Care Assisted Living Pty Ltd. As a Disability Support Worker, you will be responsible for providing tailored support to individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Level 3.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized support to participants with ASD Level 3, focusing on their unique routines, behaviors, and communication needs.
  • Assist with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and household tasks.
  • Implement behavior support strategies as outlined in the participant's Positive Behavior Support Plan.
  • Support social engagement and community participation in a safe and structured manner.
  • Use communication tools or augmentative devices to support non-verbal or limited-verbal communication.
  • Provide emotional regulation support and assist with transitions or sensory sensitivities.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, including daily progress notes and incident reports.
  • Liaise with family members, therapists, and other stakeholders in a professional and respectful manner.
  • Ensure a safe environment at all times, both at home and in the community.
  • Promote independence while respecting the participant's pace and capacity.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Certificate III or IV in Individual Support (Disability), or a related qualification.
  • Experience working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder, preferably Level 3.
  • Understanding of sensory processing issues, communication challenges, and behavioral needs associated with severe autism.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check or Working with Children Check.
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable vehicle.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure.
  • Flexibility to work a range of shifts, including weekends and overnight shifts.
