Job Overview

An exciting opportunity exists for a full time Diesel Mechanic to support our team in South Australia.

About The Position
  • Conduct routine maintenance on Cummins QSK60 and KTA50 diesel engines and auxiliary mechanical plant, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Identify, report and repair defects with the ability to identify opportunities for improvement, contributing to the success of the team.
  • Undertake tasks such as welding, fabrication, lubrication, hydraulics and machining, applying technical expertise to resolve complex issues.
  • Contribute to and execute day-to-day work plans to ensure on-time delivery of the work plan, collaborating with colleagues to achieve goals.
  • Maintain records by completing all administrative requirements and using maintenance management systems, providing accurate and timely information.
Key Responsibilities
  • Install, overhaul and perform maintenance for all mechanical features of generating assets and auxiliary plant to contribute to the required availability and reliability of Snowy Hydro's Diesel Generating assets.
  • Repair and diagnose issues with diesel engines and associated equipment, using technical knowledge and skills to troubleshoot problems.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve maintenance processes and reduce downtime, enhancing overall productivity.
  • Work collaboratively with other teams to achieve common goals and objectives, fostering a positive and supportive work environment.
  • Participate in training and professional development activities to enhance technical skills and stay up-to-date with industry advancements.
Requirements
  • A Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology, Mobile Plant Technology or a relevant Diesel trade certificate.
  • Previous experience as a qualified mechanic, with a strong understanding of diesel engine technology and maintenance practices.
  • Knowledge and experience in repairs, maintenance and diagnostics within a power generation environment, includingCummins QSK60 and KTA50 diesel engines.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and determine root cause failures on plant and equipment, applying analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to establish constructive working relationships, fostering a positive and respectful work environment.
  • Commitment to the highest standard of health and safety performance, adhering to company policies and procedures.
