About the Maintenance Fitter Role

The successful candidate will play a vital part in ensuring our production machinery and equipment operate at optimal levels. Responsibilities include conducting routine maintenance and inspections, performing preventive maintenance tasks, and identifying and troubleshooting mechanical issues.

Key duties may involve carrying out repairs and replacements of faulty components, collaborating with other maintenance team members to perform complex repairs, and utilizing technical manuals, diagrams, and blueprints to assist in troubleshooting and repairing machinery.

Maintenance activities may require maintaining accurate records of maintenance and repair activities, adhering to safety protocols, and coordinating with production supervisors to schedule maintenance tasks and minimize disruptions to production schedules.

This role requires someone capable of working with minimal supervision, supervising lower-level personnel and apprentices, and maintaining, building, modifying, or testing advanced trade skills in any department.

  • Diagnosing and rectifying faults
  • Installing cable / wiring support and protection equipment (trunking, cable trays)
  • Installing and terminating wiring systems
  • Installing electrical apparatus (switchboards, motors, protection devices, control devices etc)
  • Maintaining and repairing electrical and mechanical apparatus (motors, generators, lighting, etc)
  • Commissioning of electrical and mechanical apparatus and associated circuits
  • Testing electrical apparatus and circuits

To be successful in this role, you will need a Certificate III in Mechanical Engineering Tradesperson (Electrical "A" Class) or similar, completed modules in PLC Programming, and practical experience with Omron and Siemens PLCs. FMCG (manufacturing) experience is highly desirable, as is knowledge in HACCP and ISO9001:2000.
