About the Role: Approach Personnel Ltd is collaborating with a prominent residential developer seeking a Trainee Quantity Surveyor to enhance their team.

This position presents a remarkable opportunity for a recent graduate or a novice Quantity Surveyor to integrate into a dynamic and successful Commercial Team at their East Midlands office. The role will report directly to the Senior Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Director.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Providing administrative support to the Quantity Surveying team.
  2. Measuring external works accurately.
  3. Issuing pre-approved orders.
  4. Managing subcontractor matrix orders.
  5. Overseeing basic payment processes and budget loading aspects.
  6. Conducting bi-monthly valuations, appointing subcontractors, and processing payments to ensure effective cost control and informed management decisions.
  7. Ensuring timely processing of weekly and monthly payments, resolving any disputes to maintain uninterrupted site operations and provide an accurate financial overview.
  8. Producing site valuations bi-monthly and presenting them to the Board to highlight any deviations from budgeted figures.
  9. Negotiating to secure optimal rates for subcontract appointments to enhance profit margins.
  10. Utilizing the Persimmon Group COINS system for establishing new sites and budgets, while forecasting site profitability for financial planning.
  11. Coordinating with various departments to ensure efficient site operations.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  1. A valid UK driving license is beneficial.
  2. Experience in the residential construction sector is preferred but not mandatory.
  3. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.

Educational Background:

  1. A-Level or equivalent qualifications are preferred.
  2. A willingness to pursue a construction-related subject at college or university on a day release basis is essential.
