Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Graduate Environmental Health & Building Officer to join our team at Sutherland Shire Council. As a key member of our Environment, Health & Building Division, you will play a vital role in protecting and enhancing community health and environmental standards within the Sutherland Shire.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and health standards.
  • Collaborate with experienced professionals to contribute to community health and environmental protection initiatives.
  • Engage in diverse activities, including monitoring compliance, conducting assessments, and participating in training opportunities.
  • Develop essential skills and gain comprehensive experience in a variety of functions within our Environment, Health & Building Division.
Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Health or a related field.
  • Basic knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Local Government Act and Environmental Planning & Assessment Act.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a customer-focused mindset.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and embrace mentorship opportunities.

As part of the Environment, Health & Building Division, you will play a crucial role in regulatory compliance and public education, ensuring adherence to health and safety standards across various sectors.

What We Offer
  • A competitive salary package of $67,752 - $71,706 gross p.a. plus 11.5% superannuation.
  • A temporary full-time position with 35 hours per week, with the option of a 19 day month (flexi-time arrangement).
