Traffic Planning Engineer

As a key player in the development of efficient and safe traffic systems, you will be instrumental in shaping the local transport infrastructure. Your primary responsibility will be to assist in the planning, implementation, and analysis of various transportation projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • You will conduct thorough traffic and transport impact assessments for proposed developments and land use rezoning initiatives.
  • Developing and implementing policies and procedures related to strategic traffic, transport, and road safety matters is also a crucial part of this role.
  • Analysis and implementation of public transport systems within the local government area are additional responsibilities that come with this position.
  • Providing expert advice on traffic and road safety matters, including investigation, analysis, formulation of solutions, and preparation of reports, is another critical function of this role.
  • Assisting in the administration of the Local Traffic Committee, which involves preparing reports and attending meetings, is also an essential duty.
  • Representing the council in various forums, such as the NSW Land & Environment Court, community forums, and other relevant gatherings, requires strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships across teams and with the community.

Ideal Candidate:

  • The ideal candidate should have 3-5 years' experience in traffic and transport engineering.
  • A strong technical proficiency with the ability to apply traffic engineering principles effectively is also necessary.
  • Sound knowledge of TfNSW guidelines and industry standards is required.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across teams and with the community, are essential.
  • High-level stakeholder engagement experience, ensuring positive collaboration and outcomes, is also desirable.
