Job Title: Director, Data Analytics

Join the Australian National Audit Office as a Director, Data Analytics, and lead a team of data engineers and analysts in designing and delivering data analytics products to end users.

About the Role

The Director, Data Analytics, will be responsible for leading and managing a team of data engineers and analysts to design and deliver data analytics products to end users. This includes reviewing and writing code that assesses data for risks, applies a calculation model, or performs ETL functions. The successful candidate will also meet with audit teams to co-design new data analytics solutions to make audit work more efficient.

Key Responsibilities

  • Meet with audit teams to co-design new data analytics solutions to make audit work more efficient.
  • Monitor and validate the quality of section outputs and raise quality issues with relevant parties.
  • Identify and implement migration of new and existing solutions to better utilise technology to increase quality, consistency and/or reduce human intervention in the process.
  • Demonstrate technical expertise in programming and the ability to apply programming skills in audit context to provide a high level of professional and technical advice on a range of issues.
  • Work with the ANAO's IT Services team to plan and deploy new solutions into the data analytics cloud, and ensure data is appropriately managed.
  • Provide guidance and support to other Data Analytics team staff regarding the use of relevant services in the Microsoft Azure platform.
Requirements
  • A strong background and proven success in using programming languages for developing data solutions to achieve business objectives.
  • A demonstrated ability to leverage technical, stakeholder engagement and project management skills to design, implement, review, validate, and present data-related projects to business users.
  • Experience in working with diverse data sources, and solving challenging ETL problems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, including the ability to independently research and assess potential data solutions to complex issues, and liaise with other teams to implement them.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and quickly apply new digital technology or tools.
  • Demonstrated capability to communicate complex issues clearly and effectively to various audiences including non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated effective leadership of high performing teams that have diverse and complementary technical skills and backgrounds.
