Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Implementation: Contribute to the build and implementation of projects following detailed architectural designs, contributing to the test and transition to the target solution.
  • Infrastructure Development: Work with Systems Architects and local Cross Domain SME to design and develop the infrastructure component of delivered systems.
  • Project Planning: Assist in the preparation, management and execution of detailed technical delivery plans.
  • Risk Management: Contribute to the identification and management of risks and issues for the delivery of the proposed solution.
Product Development
  • Technical Liaison: Represent the engineering function in technical discussions with senior stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Regional Strategy: Coordinate with the Chief Engineer to ensure regional Cross Domain strategy is appropriately reflected in operational planning and delivery.
  • Plan Execution: Responsible for execution of Cross Domain plans endorsed by the Chief Architect.
  • Technical Briefings: Represent day to day technical liaison with the UK Cross Domain team ensuring the Australian team is briefed on product updates, roadmaps, incidents, risks, issues, architectures and solutions.
  • Customer Demonstrations: Support the development and maintenance of the Australian Cross Domain lab and has primary responsibility for conducting demonstrations to customers either using Lab or Proof of Concept (PoC) capabilities on customer sites.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Develop and build strong relationships with key Cross Domain technical stakeholders in Defence and NS customers.
  • Supplier Relationships: Develop relationships with key suppliers to enhance the effectiveness of the BAES AI market offerings.
  • Process Documentation: Contribute to the creation, improvement and maintenance of process documentation.
Team Collaboration
  • Process Improvement: Support continuous improvement through feedback on existing processes, and proactively proposing process and template improvements.
  • Mentorship: Mentor junior engineers, developing them by providing guidance and support in Cross Domain technologies and estimation activities.
  • Software Support: Provide software support knowledge in conjunction with a CDS Software SME - focus on Java technologies.
  • Customer Support: Fulfils support obligations with a level of autonomy to ensure customer ongoing missions.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Support knowledge share amongst team members.
Support and Maintenance
  • Maintenance Planning: Contribute to the planning and implementation of maintenance and installation work including building and management of systems and components.
  • Support and Maintenance: Takes responsibility for agreed support and maintenance procedures at customer sites.
  • Operational Support: Provides technical expertise to enable the correct application of operational procedures.
  • Incident Resolution: Ensures the resolution of operational problems and incidents in line with Service Level Agreements.
  • Problem Identification: Identifies operational problems and contributes to their resolution.
Pre-Sales
  • Customer Workshops: Participates in customer workshops and meetings for identification and/or elaboration of scope and requirements.
  • Design Contributions: Contributes to proposed designs for Cross Domain solutions addressing customer scope and requirements.
  • Estimate Development: Contributes estimates for design, build and testing activities to support project delivery planning and costing.
Requirements
  • Australian Security Clearance: PV Australian security clearance is required, or the ability to acquire one.
  • Qualifications: Qualifications in Computer Systems Engineering or a similar level of demonstrated infrastructure engineering competence is highly desired.
  • Technical Expertise: Robust understanding of networks, coupled with a strong background in Linux systems administration, ensuring proficiency in configuring, optimizing, troubleshooting especially in Linux-based environments and experience in VoIP solutions.
