Job Opportunity

We are seeking a part-time Heritage Officer to work in our heritage collection department.

This role involves assisting with the management of Parliament's cultural collections, including database updates, image sourcing, and artwork management.

You will bring demonstrated knowledge of working with Heritage or museum collections, as well as well-developed administrative and organisational skills, customer service skills, and experience in managing special collections.

This is an opportunity to work in a unique environment, with opportunities for professional development and recognition of your efforts.

  • Sourcing images from the Collection for internal and external clients.
  • Maintaining the Former Members Biographical Register database.
  • Ensuring artworks and other items in the care of the Library's Heritage Collections are managed appropriately.

This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with limited direction and as a constructive team member.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of working with Heritage or museum collections.
  • Well-developed administrative and organisational skills combined with a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and adapt to changing work practices.
  • Well-developed customer service, communication and interpersonal skills in both written and oral forms.
  • Proven experience in the management of pictorial or other special collections.
