Laboratory Technician Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing routine sampling and testing of asphalt, PMB, emulsion, aggregate, bitumen, and other raw materials to recognised standards in our NATA laboratory.

They will document test results and calibration data in compliance with NATA standards. Additionally, they will handle and manage chemicals in line with relevant standards.

It is crucial that the Laboratory Technician conducts procedures safely and ensures all equipment is kept in good condition for testing. Furthermore, they will maintain the laboratory in accordance with NATA requirements.

  • Performing routine sampling and testing of asphalt, PMB, emulsion, aggregate, bitumen, and other raw materials to recognised standards in our NATA laboratory.
  • Documenting test results and calibration data in compliance with NATA standards.
  • Handling and managing chemicals in line with relevant standards.
  • Conducting procedures safely and ensuring all equipment is kept in good condition for testing.
  • Maintaining the laboratory in accordance with NATA requirements.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this position, you will require:

  • An understanding of asphalt/cement quarries industries.
  • A current and valid Driver's Licence.
  • A willingness to travel (away work is required).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Australian standards for laboratories.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • A strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to achieve strict deadlines.
  • Professional communication, written and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to workplace safety and quality.
  • A Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques (advantageous).
