This role offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in regional communities by supporting women and fostering safe, empowered communities.

As a qualified lawyer, you will provide high-quality legal advice and representation in civil and criminal law matters. This includes representing clients in courts and tribunals, delivering legal support to criminalised women, particularly those impacted by Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) and systemic disadvantage.

You will work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver wraparound services, undertake outreach travel to bush courts and remote communities, and assist with logistics and delivery of community legal education and outreach events.

This position is for someone who is passionate about empowering women to live safely, free from violence and discrimination.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide legal advice and representation in civil and criminal law matters
  • Represent clients in courts and tribunals, including as a duty lawyer
  • Deliver legal support to criminalised women, particularly those impacted by DFV and systemic disadvantage
  • Work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver wraparound services
  • Undertake outreach travel to bush courts and remote communities
  • Assist with logistics and delivery of community legal education and outreach events
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Laws and eligibility for a Practising Certificate in the Northern Territory
  • Experience in civil or criminal law, particularly in Domestic and Family Violence
  • Knowledge of general civil law matters, particularly Domestic and Family Violence
  • Prior experience in Community Legal Centres and familiarity with the CLASS database
