Job Title: Assistant Director, WHS and Wellbeing

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as Assistant Director, WHS and Wellbeing. This is a key role within the Human Resources Branch, responsible for providing strategic advice and support to the department on matters related to wellbeing and Work Health and Safety (WHS).

About the Role

The Assistant Director, WHS and Wellbeing will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining, operating, and developing the mental health and wellbeing program, through ongoing department engagement, information gathering, and sharing, and consultation.
  • Reviewing, evaluating, and updating the WHS Management System and taking responsibility for information sessions for employees, and implementation of policy.
  • Providing strategic WHS advice and support to branches and divisions regarding WHS matters and participation in the department's mental health and wellbeing program.
  • Managing the work of the team, allocating work, and monitoring work quality, providing support and leadership to staff, and identifying and acting on opportunities for capability development.
  • Overseeing the provision of WHS advice to the department and developing, implementing, and evaluating the impact of health and wellbeing strategies across the department.
  • Managing the assessment and provision of reasonable adjustments.
  • Approving and being accountable for expenditure in relation to WHS assessments and related equipment.
  • Ensuring the department meets its legislated obligations in relation to the health and wellbeing of its staff.
  • Preparing briefs for the executive and managing the preparation of content for corporate reporting.
