Shipping Support Officer

This is a full-time fixed-term contract position until end of June 2026. The role is based at Port Botany, reporting to the Deputy Harbour Master/Manager Compliance and Planning.


The job involves learning processes involved in the handling and transport of dangerous goods at the commercial ports in NSW. You will be responsible for ensuring OnePort processes meet the requirements of PANSW and external stakeholders.


You will need to document change processes for internal and external audiences. This can include creating video or online learning content. Participate in meetings, reviews, estimations, providing a test and customer view for comments and suggestions.


Work closely with the Dangerous Goods team and OnePort Delivery to leverage their knowledge and provide constant feedback regarding testing and development to the Dangerous Goods team.


You will be required to complete various background checks, including police checks, medicals, and qualification checks to be successful.


Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Familiarity with Port Operations in a large commercial Port
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills are essential
  • Relationship management skills to build effective, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and meet key deadlines
