About the Role

The Housing Chaplain is a key member of the team, providing holistic care and support to residents and staff within a housing context. This role is responsible for delivering multiple key objectives, including facilitating a holistic pastoral care program, nurturing a Jesus-centered spirituality, developing a healthy community through sound community development practices, and working with volunteers to flourish further care.

As a chaplain, you will be a member of the Church and Community Engagement team of Churches of Christ, supporting activities aligned with the strategic direction of the organization and consistent with its mission and values.

This full-time position provides chaplaincy services to multiple sites within the Inner Brisbane area.

About You

You are an active Christian who has demonstrated competence in holistic pastoral care. As a team player with a teachable spirit, you can effectively communicate with others in various contexts. You are comfortable working alongside people from different faiths, cultures, and lifestyle choices as well as educational backgrounds.

As a caring and positive role model, you have proven leadership and management skills, with the capacity to deliver outcomes, inspire and motivate teams, and work across organizational boundaries to achieve shared goals.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Ability to be endorsed as a Ministering Person with Churches of Christ;
  • Certificate IV in Pastoral Care, Chaplaincy, Christian Ministry, or relevant equivalent qualification;
  • Current Driver's license and a willingness to travel periodically;
  • Demonstrated experience in providing pastoral care, chaplaincy services, or community development at an advanced level;
  • Demonstrated ability to function as a servant leader who values all people, including the marginalized;
  • Demonstrated ability to model a missional lifestyle and communicate Christian beliefs and convictions within the Australian context.
