This is an exciting opportunity to join our team during a period of rapid growth. We are seeking a highly skilled professional to provide phone counselling to carers dealing with anxiety, stress, and depression while caring for loved ones with disabilities, medical conditions, mental illness, or age-related fragility.

We offer a warm and inclusive environment where you can utilise your calm and competent organisation skills, to support carers nationwide at point of intake to the Carer Gateway National Counselling Service. In this role, you will be able to:

  • Support carers to build their capacity to sustain their caring role
  • Provide phone intake and assessment of the eligibility of carers across Australia
  • Gather sensitive personal information and allocate the carer to a counsellor via our client record management system (CRM)
  • Play a key role in supporting the administration of our quality assurance and management processes

This is an excellent opportunity to work in a very positive and professional team of experienced counsellors and to utilise your valuable skills and gain more experience to support carers nationwide.

You will have the support and collaboration of an Intake Team Lead as well as of an experienced counsellor throughout your shift.

Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you will need to have:

  • Completion of relevant tertiary qualifications in counselling, community services, mental health or social work
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Able to work under pressure in a digital based services in high paced environment (call centre) is essential
  • Demonstrated knowledge of child protection, domestic violence best practice and suicide protocols
  • Experience in working with individuals caring for people with a disability, dementia and/ or mental health concerns will be highly regarded
