Job Summary

This position serves as the Chief of the Information Technology Operations Center Unit, Customer Care and Support Office, Deputy CIO Enterprise Services, Bureau of Diplomatic Technology (DT/ES/CCS/ITOC). The incumbent advises CCS leadership on ITOC planning, policy, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • IT Operations Management: The incumbent analyzes, evaluates, and recommends improvements to ITOC policies, programs, and projects.
  • Customer Service: The incumbent analyzes, evaluates, and ensures timely and successful resolution of IT issues that negatively impact customers and Department classified and unclassified networks.
  • Communication and Collaboration: The incumbent serves as a point of contact with key stakeholders within the Department and with other agencies for critical crisis IT events.
  • Problem Solving and Leadership: The incumbent identifies specific branch operations and program problems and instructs subordinates to resolve them accordingly.
Requirements

The incumbent must have at least 1 full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service which provided them with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position.

  • Leadership and Guidance: Experience providing leadership, guidance, or direction to other technical personnel in carrying out IT projects, goals, and initiatives.
  • Program Integration: Experience integrating programs and policies to support DOS domestic and overseas operations.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Experience communicating and interacting with others effectively to prepare reports and presentations to senior management.
  • Customer Service and Experience: Experience identifying, analyzing, and recommending solutions to improve customer service and experience with the unit.

The incumbent's experience must also demonstrate that they possess the following qualities:

  • Assigning and Supervising Work: Ability to assign, review, and supervise the work of others.
  • Objectivity and Fairness: Objectivity and fairness in judging people on their ability, and situations on the facts and circumstances.
