About the Role

AusNet Services Ltd is seeking a highly skilled Cyber Defence Manager to lead our Security Operations Centre and spearhead the transformation of our security operations through a commitment to operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the day-to-day operational outcomes of the function, as well as develop and drive the strategic direction, aligning people and processes to achieve business and cyber department goals.
  • Lead and manage the third-party Managed Security Service Providers (MSSP) by leading the cybersecurity incident management lifecycle and ensuring processes and procedures are documented, maintained, and practiced.
  • Lead and manage the continuous improvement of our threat detection capabilities by utilizing frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK and Cyber Kill Chain.
  • Lead the 5-year strategy, planning, and execution of the security operations centre transformation plan by leading the implementation of automation and next-generation detection and response capabilities.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to continuously strengthen security defences.
  • Lead incident response activities and forensic investigations with discretion, sensitivity, and objectivity and communicate detailed analysis and security risk information to stakeholders.
  • Lead the vulnerability management lifecycle and the penetration testing program. Work with the various teams for remediations activities.
  • Liaise with external entities, such as cybersecurity advisory bodies, threat intelligence entities, law enforcement agencies, and external partners, to maintain a strong security posture and stay ahead of relevant security threats.
  • Oversee the planning and the execution of regular cybersecurity incident simulations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications (CISSP, CISM, GIAC, OSCP, IEC62443) are highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in cyber security with demonstrated experience as a technical lead in SOC function responsible for threat analysis, incident response, threat hunting, detection engineering, automation, and orchestration.
  • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, threats, and defensive technologies and proficiency with SOC tools and technologies, such as SIEM, EDR, IDS/IPS, and threat intelligence platforms, OT Threat Monitoring.
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining and using platforms such as Qradar, Microsoft Sentinel Elasticsearch, Nozomi, Dragos.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated experience leading initiatives or projects that have required delegation and accountability to achieve success.
  • Exposure to Operational Technology (OT) / Industrial Control Systems (ICS) is highly desirable.
  • Passion for continually learning and staying up to date on the latest threat actor tradecraft, detection techniques, and security operations concepts.
