Job Summary
The Director of Medicine is a senior leadership position responsible for the management and operation of the medical department. The successful candidate will have overall responsibility for leading and coordinating multidisciplinary teams, while ensuring seamless service integration with the Executive Director of Medical Services, fellow directors, and colleagues across and outside the health service.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee medical service delivery, including the Mount Isa Medical Ward, general medicine specialist outpatient clinics, and specialist outreach patient services.
- Lead and manage multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care and service delivery.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve service integration and collaboration with other departments and health services.
- Provide clinical leadership and expertise to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care.
- Manage and oversee the budget and resources for the medical department.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and health service standards.
Requirements
- Hold current general and specialist registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Fellow of The Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP).
- Dual Fellowship in a relevant specialty will be highly regarded.
- Proof of qualification and registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Proof of identity documents for General Criminal History and National Police Certificate checks.
- Licence to operate a class C motor vehicle.
- Ability to travel to other hospitals and health centres as required.
Benefits
- Competitive salary range of $546,878-$671,315 per annum.
- Up to $70,000 in incentive payments may be available under the Queensland Health Workforce Attraction Incentive Scheme.
- 5 weeks annual recreational leave accumulation with 17.5% loading when taken.
- Generous employer contribution to superannuation of 12.75%.
- Attraction and retention incentive allowance of 35-50% base annual salary.
- Regional and rural attraction allowance of 15% base annual salary.
- Motor vehicle allowance.
- Professional development allowance and leave of 3.6 weeks p.a.
