Plastering Specialist

Job Title: Fibrous Plasterer

We are currently seeking x3 experienced and qualified Fibrous Plasterers to join our team in Darwin and remote when required.

The successful candidate will undertake the following duties:

Preparation

• Assess job sites.
• Prepare materials required for the job.

Demolition

• Demolish existing internal partition walls and ceilings as required.
• Demolish existing building claddings as required.

Installation

• Read and interpret plans to execute tasks accurately.
• Set out internal partition walls and ceilings as per the provided drawings.
• Install internal partition wall and ceiling framings as per the specification and manufacturer's installation instruction.
• Install steel studs, top hats or subframes for external claddings system i.e. CFC façade
• Install door frames and doors associated with partition walls.
• Plan plasterboard layout, incorporating insulation and vapour barriers.
• Cut plasterboard, fibre cement sheet, acoustic ceiling tiles, decorative wall/ceiling or similar materials, lift and position panels, and secure them to walls and ceiling framing as per engineering specifications.
• Measure, mark and cut external wall panels, and secure them to the framings as per the manufacturer's instruction and shop drawings.
• Fix standard plasterboard sheets on walls and ceilings, securing them effectively.
• Plan plasterboard layout, incorporating insulation and vapour barriers.

Creating Molds

• Construct and use molds for ornate plaster pieces, such as cornices, angles, and other decorative elements.

Finishing Work

• Mix and apply coats of plaster to plasterboard or CFC panel joins and screw holes with wet plaster and sealing compounds, and smooth them.
• Smooth and finish plaster surfaces to achieve desired textures and appearances.
• Achieve seamless finishes on plasterboard joins for a polished look.
• Sand using sanding tools and sandpaper ready for painting.

Collaboration

• Work in a team environment with other construction professionals, such as engineers and builders, to ensure designs are executed correctly.
• Respect project timeframes.

Safety Practices

• Follow safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.

Maintenance

• Keep tools and equipment in good working order and maintain a clean workspace.

Requirements

• Certificate IV or higher qualification, or at least 3 years of relevant work experience in lieu.
• Strong knowledge of plastering techniques.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while juggling multiple tasks.
• Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.

Salary Range

$70,000-$74,000 per annum, commensurate with experience.
