About the Company

Six Degrees Executive is a leading recruitment agency that connects talented professionals with top companies. Our client, a manufacturer based in the North-Eastern suburbs, is seeking a skilled Cost Accountant to join their finance team.

About the Role

This is a 3-month contract role with the opportunity for permanent extension. The successful candidate will partner with the Production Manager and the broader Operations team to drive performance across all areas by providing accurate and timely insights. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing ongoing business partnering to enable Operations to achieve financial and operational targets.
  • Playing a key role in the month-end close process, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Investigating and reporting on plant variances and KPIs.
  • Preparing the monthly forecast for production and supply chain.
  • Developing and/or implementing necessary processes to support internal forecasting/reporting requirements.
  • Performing moderate to complex cost analysis and audits associated with the cost accounting function.
  • Providing financial support for productivity initiatives, including allocation, tracking and reporting.
  • Providing financial support for capital investment analysis and fixed asset accounting.
  • Providing ad hoc financial analysis as requested.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Minimum 3 years general business and financial experience.
  • Experience in operations, manufacturing or related industry preferred.
  • Experience with financial modelling.
  • Continuous Improvement: experience identifying areas for continuous improvement and/or cost reductions and making recommendations for enhancement.
  • Business Partnering: experience of effectively managing relationships with internal customers.
  • Internal Controls: experience working with and maintaining existing controls.
  • High level of attention to detail with proven level of quality and accuracy of work.
  • Proactive research, analysis, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and prioritise tasks in a high volume, fast paced environment.
  • Intermediate level of Word and Excel.
