This role presents a unique opportunity to develop your career in orthopaedic surgery, with a focus on providing high-quality patient care and contributing to continuous quality improvement.

As an Advanced Trainee, you will work closely with senior medical teams to manage the care of patients presenting to the Orthopaedic department. This includes maintaining accurate records of patient care, ensuring effective clinical handovers, and coordinating discharge planning.

The successful candidate will possess strong communication skills, as well as the ability to maintain a high level of attention to detail. A background in postgraduate experience in Orthopaedics, preferably to PGY level 3 or higher, is also highly desirable.

This position offers a competitive remuneration package, with a total indicative salary range of $105,751 - $171,579 MDP2 (pro rata). Full-time contracts are available, with up to three years' employment offered. Rotations following the initial 12-month allocation will be determined in line with your training and the organization's requirements.

About the Role:

  • Maintaining a high standard of patient care for inpatients and outpatients;
  • Keeping high-quality, readily accessible records of patient care;
  • Providing an effective and accurate clinical handover of patient care at the change of daily shifts and at the change of a clinical attachment;
  • Commencing discharge planning at the earliest opportunity, ensuring drugs and equipment are ordered, post-discharge management, and undertaking follow-up in consultation with the patient's normal carers and General Practitioner;
  • Implementing administrative procedures consistent with the duties of a unit registrar, including supervision of admission and discharge planning;

About You:

  • General registration with the Medical Board of Australia;
  • Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent;
  • Postgraduate experience in the specialty of Orthopaedics to PGY level 3 or higher;
  • Past experience in clinical departments of teaching hospitals;
