Key Role Overview

As a Recovery Champion, you will have the opportunity to lead and support high-quality recovery-focused care delivery.

  • You will utilise your lived experience to deliver services that cater to the needs of service-users.
About the Position

This is a Full Time, Fixed Term opportunity championing lived experience, advocating for human rights and providing an alternative to traditional mental health responses through mutuality-based practice in Cardinia.

You will collaborate with the team and empower them to integrate their lived experience into work practices, supporting service users by identifying how they would like to move towards possibilities in their lives and focusing on relational care.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Utilise your lived expertise to foster an inclusive culture valuing lived experience and active inclusion of service users, carers, and families in our work.
  • Work in alignment with Mind's Lived Experience Strategy, Peer Work Framework, and Model of Peer Work to guide your work.
  • Support the development of a consistent narrative highlighting the value of Lived Experience across quality, values, and service outcomes.
  • Lead delivery of services as defined in the Local Service Model.
  • Coach and mentor staff to develop creative solutions and remain motivated in meeting people's needs and preferences.
  • Provide line management and supervision to staff providing direct support to service users.
  • Influence and contribute to a service and team culture focused on relational practice, meeting individuals where they are at.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Completion of Intentional Peer Support Core and/or Advanced training is mandatory.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Mental Health, Peer Work, AOD or other health-related field as designated by relevant authorities are desirable but not required.
  • Experience as a peer worker or holding a designated lived experience role.
  • Proven leadership experience and capability to coach, mentor and develop a team to achieve the provision of service best supporting community needs.
  • Experience in Community Services, AOD, Mental Health, Disability, Social Welfare, Housing, Healthcare or Government sectors is essential.
