About the Role

The Manager Quality Governance and Assurance position has a strategic outlook of 1-3 years. It involves overseeing and leading a growing team focusing on quality assurance (QA), supplier quality assurance (SQA), and IMTE calibrations services.

This role requires establishing quality standards and processes across the organization, supporting governance and quality assurance, and managing external stakeholder relationships.

Responsibilities:

  • Aligning activities with the company's strategy and contractual deliverables.
  • Maintaining a strategic perspective on business issues, opportunities, and risks.
  • Leading a team of quality and product assurance professionals.
  • Ensuring high-quality, safe, and efficient systems of work.
  • Providing auditing, system maintenance, corrective actions, calibration management, and root cause analysis.
  • Ensuring that systems and processes align with best practices in quality management systems.
Required Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Diploma in quality audit and management.
  • Lead auditor qualifications.
  • Tertiary qualifications in an engineering and/or business discipline desirable.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in operational leadership roles within Defence and/or heavy industry.
  • Demonstrated successful experience with ISO accreditation audits and certifications.
  • Strong knowledge of technical systems of work, quality assurance standards, and corrective action/change management processes.
  • Proven experience and competency with quality/certification systems in a dockyard or heavy engineering environment.
  • Demonstrated experience and competency in the management and leadership of cross-functional teams spanning multiple projects and locations.
  • High-level conceptual, analytical, and decision-making skills with the ability to interpret social, political, and operating environments.
  • Problem-solving at the highest level of complexity and importance affecting value, viability, and profitability.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills across all levels - written, verbal, and interpersonal.
  • Proven ability to influence and lead change and business improvement.
  • Ability to set priorities and achieve deadlines within a fast-paced environment.

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level.
