About the Koori Court
Job DescriptionThe Koori Court Officer role is focused on providing culturally sensitive support to the court and assisting Aboriginal persons and their families who interact with the Magistrates Court/Koori Court.
This position plays a vital part in ensuring that the court provides a responsive and inclusive service by:
- Supporting the Aboriginal community's understanding of the court's operations and procedures
- Maintaining a register of services and support programs
- Facilitating referral processes to foster connections between the Magistrates' Court and the Aboriginal community, helping clients meet rehabilitation and court outcomes.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will need excellent client support and relationship management skills, enabling you to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including:
- Aboriginal clients and families
- Elders and Respected Persons (ERPs)
- Magistrates, Youth Justice Workers, and Department of Justice and Regulation-Corrections staff
- Victoria Police Prosecution team members, Community Organisations, and Legal Representatives
