Job Overview:

The Technology Risk Manager plays a pivotal role in providing strategic risk and control assessments that drive informed technology risks oversight across projects and portfolios.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment with the 3 lines of defence model and operational risk framework.
  • Develop and prepare risk reporting and monitoring effectiveness of actions taken to manage identified risks, ensuring timely interventions.
  • Ensure project changes are managed in accordance with governance methodologies and frameworks, maintaining transparency throughout the lifecycle.
  • Understand, identify, and assess risks during project implementation and post-implementation, including overall impact on the project and operational risk profile.
  • Establish and lead project risk workshops to identify risks and implement appropriate controls.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Risk Management:
    • Provide expert guidance to stakeholders on compliance and risk management, facilitating informed decision-making.
    • Stay up-to-date with SOX and Prudential control frameworks, leveraging knowledge to identify and mitigate risks.
    • Utilize the Technology Controls Library and other control frameworks to proactively identify risks and apply relevant controls.
    • Monitor the effectiveness of controls using established processes aligned with client methodology.
  • Change Enablement:
    • Assess and recommend risk management strategies to enable sponsors to make informed decisions about risk position and profile.
  • Controls Management:
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure effective risk management, providing expert guidance on compliance and control frameworks.
    • Stay up-to-date with SOX and Prudential control frameworks, leveraging knowledge to identify and mitigate risks.
    • Utilize the Technology Controls Library and other control frameworks to proactively identify risks and apply relevant controls.
    • Monitor the effectiveness of controls using established processes aligned with client methodology.
  • Technology Acumen:
    • Understand high-level controls pervading through various technical applications, teams, structure, and solutioning.
    • Understand service management lifecycles across technical solutions and functions.
    • Understand technology, infrastructure, platforms, and systems, and their translation into business requirements.
  • Project Lifecycle Management:
    • Understand project lifecycles, including project plans, business cases, contingencies, and critical paths.
    • Manage and monitor multiple project plans, handling obstacles effectively.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Work with stakeholders to develop and drive potential efficiency and improvements in project risk management.
    • Support activities providing stakeholders with insights influencing decisions and enabling objectives within risk appetite.

The ideal candidate will possess at least 5 years of experience in risk, compliance, assurance, and regulatory areas, preferably with professional consulting experience in risk management, ideally with a Big4 or similar large consulting firm. They should have a good understanding of technology risk and compliance frameworks, strong communication and presentation skills, and proven stakeholder engagement and influencing skills. Ability to plan and prioritize to manage multiple work streams/tasks simultaneously is essential. Certifications like CISA, CRISC, and PRINCE2/Agile are highly valued.
