Pyrometallurgical Process Leader

GFG Alliance is committed to decarbonizing the steel industry, and we're seeking a Principal Pyrometallurgist to lead our efforts. This role is crucial in delivering best-in-class process technology to drive our Whyalla transformation.

As a Principal Pyrometallurgist, you'll be responsible for identifying, developing, and executing major growth studies, including process definition, support infrastructure, and utilities. You'll provide technical recommendations to the business and support the MEP Whyalla Business Transformation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and manage the portfolio of MEP Projects to deliver project study objectives.
  • Provide technical recommendations to the business regarding major technology selections.
  • Support the MEP Whyalla Business Transformation by engaging with the investment process.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislative, regulatory, and company requirements.
  • Support and develop an active Project Register maintained by Project Services.
  • Effectively engage, manage, and coordinate key stakeholders and support other SIMEC groups as required.
  • Identify and develop major growth opportunities covering aspects of the value chain downstream of the Magnetite Coordinator.

We're looking for a highly motivated, commercially savvy, and value-focused individual to join our high-performing team. You'll have a strong safety awareness, drive a positive safety culture, and possess excellent verbal and communication skills.

You'll also have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Mineral Processing, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or related experience.
  • Minimum years of practical experience in pyrometallurgical operations.
  • Strong computer literacy and analytical skills to evaluate large and complex data sets.
  • Sound understanding of the mining value levers and demonstrated success in process optimization.
