About the TeamColes Express has recently been integrated into Viva Energy Retail, which is recognized as Australia's largest single branded convenience and retail network.
Viva Energy Retail operates as a mobility and convenience division of Viva Energy Australia, boasting a premium national network of fuel and convenience outlets situated in metropolitan areas, regional zones, and along major transport routes. This positions us advantageously to cater to both on-road and local suburban convenience markets.
About the Role We are currently seeking an Assistant Category Manager to become a part of the Viva Energy Retail Merchandise team. You will engage with the Drinks and Dairy category while overseeing a range of projects that support the category.
Your responsibilities will include assisting the Business Category Manager in enhancing profitable category sales, nurturing robust supplier relationships, and supporting a customer-focused category strategy.
Additionally, you will:
- Hold comprehensive accountability for managing forecasting and range evaluations.
- Oversee the collection, input, and upkeep of all category data, which includes promotional systems, data management systems, and new product lines.
- Deliver on the overarching category strategy.
- Implement the category's pricing, promotional activities, range selection, and layout design.
- Cultivate strong supplier relationships to effectively collaborate and achieve objectives.
We are in search of candidates with experience in an FMCG and/or retail setting, possessing a solid understanding of merchandising functions and processes.
You will also need:
- Excellent organizational skills and the capability to plan ahead to meet the unique demands of the category.
- Previous experience in promotional and trade planning.
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate closely and influence both internal and external stakeholders to meet objectives.
- Strong commercial insight, with experience in interpreting industry trends and the competitive retail landscape.
- Proficient analytical skills, demonstrated by the ability to proactively gather customer insights and data to develop category recommendations.
- Experience in working within cross-functional teams to manage and execute projects.
